I have a place, my place in society, but not only by what I achieve through my work (and this should be emphasized) but by what I am as whole.

Work is also an aspect of being able to experience who I am, what's good for me, what hurts, what I like and what I don't understand.

What we aim to achieve…

In our society, work ranks high for every human being. It can be the basic condition for self-endorsement and social integration. To a very high degree this also applies for handicapped people, who for the most part see themselves ousted from the ordinary job market due to the ever-rising performance pressure in our society.

It must therefore always be the objective of a work facility for disabled people to achieve socialization in the job market, socialization as a process of an individual "growing into" the social systems surrounding him or her.

In order to attain this goal, disabled people have the same right as the able-bodied to their work making sense - including grasping the content of work, overviewing processes and knowing what is being done and why and what for.

The basis for this lies in following a cooperative and integrative approach, which means adjusting to individual abilities, skills and interests of  disabled people. Holism means that there are no two identical tasks, that motivation and motivating ability, interests, environment, personal development, goals and desires have to be taken into account.

For whom?

Disabled people with completed compulsory education, who can read and write, who enjoy working with computers and undergoing job preparation or want to further their education.

Our competence

The training office is run by way of work therapies and forms an independent sector of the Workshops in Graz (HIK and Unikat). A total of five computer workplaces are available.

The conceptual basis of the training office rests on four pillars:

  • Initial diagnostics: the abilities and skills of clients meeting the admission criteria are checked by means of initial diagnosis. Uncertainties are also eliminated during this the first phase. The result of the initial diagnosis test forms the basis for developing an individual promotion plan.
  • Promotion plan: basic and individual learning goals are spelled out. Basic knowledge of EDP, principal office activities. These learning goals are to be fulfilled through sensible work contents and activities.
  • Work areas: hands-on learning, with objects of concrete orders from MOSAIK and other companies.
  • Training catalogue: on the basis of the initial diagnosis, promotion plan and work contents, an individual training catalogue is developed, with the objective of integration into the job market. Education in this sense is understood as unlimited, principally life-long promotion of the  achievements as well as the emotional life of the human being.

What else do we stand for

  • individual care, promotion and goal-setting
  • reference-care system
  • a diverse job service offer
  • acquisition of computer literacy
  • basic knowledge in the field of office work

What do we achieve

Besides various administrative jobs for MOSAIK, an important focus of our work is placed on the keeping of the Public Library as well as the project documentation on ortho-pedagogy. In addition we take on orders for other firms such as putting mass-mailed letters into envelopes and sorting them.
